2019 Upcoming Events in Oregon

August 12-16th: Willamette River Trip

Join me for a  5-day trip paddling down Oregon’s magnificent Willamette River with the organization Willamette RiverKeeper for their annual event, Paddle Oregon. I’ll be sharing daily nature sketching and journaling tips and leading river-side and campsite workshops on drawing the flora and fauna we encounter along the river.
This event is famous for its spectacular meals, legendary Pacific Northwest wine, and beer selection, local entertainment, evening presentations, yoga sessions, massage, and beautiful camping spots. Learn more and sign up on the Paddle Oregon website.

June 15 and 16: Sketching Birds Weekend Workshop in Bend, Oregon

 Learn the basics of sketching birds in pencil with a focus on depicting common Oregon species. We’ll cover the essentials of bird anatomy and practice quick field sketching techniques to help you capture the bird shapes and behaviors observed when sketching outdoors.

Date: Saturday, June 15 – Sunday, June 16   time: 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Cost:    $125, with all materials included. Location: Sagebrushers Art Society


May 11 – 12th: Silver Falls State Park Birding and Wildflower Festival

Join me at the 41st Annual Silver Falls State Park Birding and Wildflower Festival, located near scenic Silverton, Oregon. I’ll be leading 1-hour workshops where participants will learn about 3 different bird species that migrate through the area; Rufous Hummingbird, Wilson’s Warbler, and Black-headed Grosbeaks. Participants will learn about the birds’ migratory routes, life history, and identification while learning how to create realistic sketches of them. Fun for the whole family!

April 26 – 27th: Bird Drawing Workshop in Burns, Oregon

Join me in eastern Oregon on Friday, April 26th from 6:30-8:30 pm at the Harney County Library in Burns for my 2-hour beginner’s bird drawing workshop ‘Stick Figures to Songbirds’.
Then on Saturday, we will meet at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge for a morning bird walk and some bird sketching practice.

April 22nd: Introduction to Nature Sketching

In celebration of Earth Day, Join me at the Sagebrushers Art Society in Bend, Oregon for a 2-hour event that includes a slideshow, sketching demo and drawing activities.
Monday, April 22nd: 10 AM-Noon. At Sagebrushers Art Society, 117 SW Roosevelt Avenue in Bend. FREE but pre-registration required. Contact Christine to reserve your spot.
