Drawing a Poppy:
A Memorial Day-inspired workshop

The Flanders Poppy became a symbol of Memorial Day after a poem was written, In Flanders Field, by John McCrae; a First World War physician and lieutenant. These poppies are native to Europe and were found growing on the battlefields.

So, below you’ll find my video workshop in which you’ll learn about the poppy family, observe their anatomical structures, then create drawings of both a flower and its unique seed pod which is characteristic of this plant family.
