Learn to Sketch the Luna Moth

Join me on Saturday, July 28th, 2018 to celebrate National Moth Week, a week-long event that highlights the beauty, diversity, and importance of moths in the ecosystem.

I’ll be teaching you easy sketching techniques for drawing moths in a free, live Facebook event, where you’ll also learn fascinating facts about general moth anatomy, biology, and their ecological roles in the environment. We’ll be focusing on Luna Moths, Actias Luna,(also known as Moon Moths) which live in eastern North America and are a colorful species belonging to the Saturniidae Family that happens to include the world’s largest moths!

No prior drawing experience is required, absolute beginners are welcome to join!

How to Attend

This is a free, virtual, online event accessible anywhere in the world for viewers with an internet connection that’s fast enough for viewing videos. Follow the steps below to join.

  1. Head over to my Facebook page and click on the ‘Events’ tab on the left, then on the Learn to Draw Moths event.
  2. Click the ‘Going’ button for this event and also make sure to click the ‘Like’ and ‘Following’ buttons so you’ll get a reminder from FB about our event.
  3. Print out the handout Let’s Sketch Moths (as seen below), and bring a pencil and paper so you can follow along.
  4. Join the event on July 28th at Noon Pacific Daylight Time. When you join us live, you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions about moths as well as about my sketching techniques. But don’t worry if you can’t attend on July 28th, because the video will still be available on the Facebook page and I will also put a copy here on this page as well.
  5. See you there!
