Below you’ll find my step-by-step demonstration of painting a hummingbird in acrylic paints. I’m starting with a canvas that I’ve pre-traced in pencil so that we can focus on the painting process.
If you’ve never used acrylics before, watch this introductory video first, then watch the full hummingbird painting demo below it.
HUMMINGBIRD PAINTING DEMONSTRATION
PAINT NOTES: If you happen to want more paints, the brand I used for the demonstration is DecoArt (available at Michael’s and other arts stores). I used the following colors: Sky blue, true blue, carousel pink, purple pizzaz, raw sienna, sour apple green, lemon yellow, white and black. But feel free to use any blues, greens, pinks, yellows and browns that you prefer that match the colors of the hummingbird and salmon berry as shown on this page of my website.
