SUGGESTED NEXT STEPS
Once you’ve followed along to the step-by-step drawing demonstration above, I suggest you try drawing deer in more challenging poses, as seen in my Deer Reference Photos handout that you can download and print for extra sketching practice. And once you can depict the correct proportions of a deer, it’s pretty easy to practice drawing their relatives, such as elk, moose, and African antelopes. Or you can try drawing whatever subject that interests you, whether that’s other animals, plants, still lifes, landscapes or portraits. Any subject can be drawn using my Six Steps to Sketching Success method and I encourage you to try. Remember, the more you practice, the more realistic your drawings will become.
