Below you’ll find information and resources for my Botanical Play Date Wildflower Journaling Event (June 8, 2025).
Our botanical ‘playdate’ will include:
- πΈ A brief introduction to flower anatomy to help you draw them with more accuracy, ease, and confidence, using flowers from my garden.
- π» I’ll demonstrate how I would organize a journal page using examples from local wildflowers near my home in Oregon.
- π I’ll share some sketching and journaling prompts related to botany.
- βAnd finally, we will set aside some time to play on our own pages, or you can simply follow along as I complete mine!
β
How to Participate
- π Β Register for the zoom event (June 8,2025,10-11 AM PDT).
- πΌ Pick some flowers (wildflowers, garden flowers, or from the florist).
- β Gather some simple art supplies (ones you can easily handle while participating in the workshop). You may also want a magnifying lens to appreciate the intricacies of your flower, a local wildflower identification guide,
- πββοΈ Bring your questions about botany and field sketching. Please also be willing to share your sketches and insights in our Zoom call, I don’t want to teach to an ’empty room’ with students sitting in the back of the class! Thanks for understanding.
