Day 8

Today, I’d like to focus on some methods I use to teach the foundations of sketching, using the subject of a frog as an example.

Many students tell me that the most frustrating aspect of learning to draw is the challenge of getting their subject’s basic shapes and proportions down on paper.  Indeed, this is a skill that one should improve upon before attempting to add 3-dimensional form, texture or color to their drawing. It’s like trying to build a house on an unstable foundation.

So here I’ll share with you about 15 of my favorite ways of approaching a subject that I hope you’ll find useful.
