RESOURCES FOR HORNBILLS WORKSHOP
Below you’ll find the resources for the replay of Christine’s Hornbill Families Workshop.
SUGGESTED MATERIALS FOR WORKSHOP
(We will do the pencil drawing during the live workshop, then I’ll send you the in-depth watercolor and colored pencil demo afterward to work on at your own pace)
-
- Mechanical pencil, shading pencil, blending tool, fine-tipped eraser, colored pencils, basic watercolor supplies, opaque white pen, value scale and viewfinders, graphite transfer paper, sturdy paper (smooth is best for detailed pencil and watercolor painting).
- 3-page handout of high-resolution Hornbill Reference Images (In the workshop, we’ll be creating a detailed drawing and painting the Southern Ground-Hornbill on page #1).
- Viewfinder and value scale template
- FREE coupon for ONE friend or family to join the Hornbills Workshop (share this link). Please consider sharing this with someone who wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford the purchase price.
- (Check out my other workshops on wildlife of Africa on my Crowdcast page.

WORKSHOP DEMO PART TWO: FINAL COLOR RENDERING
(Watch this after you’ve watched the main workshop and created your pencil outline of the hornbill.
- BONUS TRAININGS ON COLORED PENCILS AND WATERCOLOR
Below you’ll find a video from my Colorful Botanicals course in which I share some introductory techniques for color matching, colored pencil application, and watercolor techniques.
Suggested Supplies for Above Colored Pencil and Watercolor Bonus Workshop:
- Set of watercolors, medium and small-sized brushes, watercolor paper, water, pencil, set of colored pencils.
- Watercolor special techniques supplies: salt, toothbrush, sponge, aluminum foil, saran wrap, straw, wax stick or small birthday candle, paper towel, tape, razor blade, small tree stick, and an eraser (my favorite is the Tombow MONO Sand Eraser that’s great for lifting watercolor, ink, and colored pencil).
