Discover and Sketch the West Indian Woodpecker
Learn all about the Caribbean endemic West Indian Woodpecker in the video below which is a replay of a live, online webinar. In this 75-minute workshop, you’ll learn all about the West Indian Woodpecker from biologist Scott Johnson; a Science Officer with the Bahamas National Trust.
Scott will share interesting facts about this woodpecker species including its identification, range, and habitat, calls, breeding ecology, threats, and conservation status. You’ll also learn about this species’ feeding ecology and behavior, including special adaptations woodpeckers that have for all that tree drumming they do!
Following Scott’s presentation, Christine will lead you through a step-by-step drawing tutorial. No prior drawing experience is necessary, all you need is a pencil and paper!
To follow along with the step-by-step sketching demonstration (starting at the 23-minute mark), I suggest you gather some graphite and colored pencils and paper and download the West Indian Woodpecker Image.
